VS House is a family home on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Originally a 4 bedroom house built around 7 years ago, it has been retrofitted into a 3 bedroom one to incorporate the clients’ other requirements.
The house is designed with a minimalist tone to it. Instead of adding more elements, the nature of the materials used to finish the insides have been focused on to create the entire ambience. An individual’s visual and tactile journey through the house is emphasised by the flooring.
The walls and ceilings take a grey colour to keep the tones monochromatic hence making the wooden furniture elements stand out. A majority of the wood used in the project is reclaimed and the walls are all finished with a lime wash. This entire palette has been chosen keeping locally available materials in mind.
